Kaylene came to sleep over!

It was VERY hot the last few days, so Dave, Jolene and Kaylene came to spend a few days with us. It was a great lot of fun. Here are a few photos. Don't know if you can tell, but she sure is growing!

Dad's hike to Mt. Rainer

Yesterday, Dad and his friend Norm took a day hike on Mt. Rainer. It was pretty warm, but they seemed to enjoy themselves. Here are some photos of the views and wild flowers.

Farewell to our friends.

After church and brunch on Sunday Addie and Jerry left for the continuation of their "Great American Road Trip". They left for Crater lake and were meeting up with their son. Our flowers added a nice touch, huh? We had a wonderful two days.

Friday in the City

We spent a good part of Friday touring around with Addie and Jerry. We had lunch in one of our favorite restaurants in Pioneer Square. Mitchelli's. I thought they had closed, but there they were. So we had a couple of chicken wrap sandwiches before we boarded our Argosy cruise. We had a beautiful day. Not too hot and lots of sun. Seattle was looking it's absolute best! After two and half hours of cruising around the city, we went back to Pioneer Square for dinner. We ate at a tiny (I don't think it seats more than 30 people) Italian restaurant we've always wanted to try, call Al Bocaalino. Very, very good. We all have something different and cleaned our plates! Nice day.

Addie and Kaylene

We have friends visiting us from Chicago this week end. Our kids and Addie and Jerry's kids grew up together in Clarendon Hills. It's great to have them here. Last evening Dave, Jolene and Kaylene joined us for the evening and dinner. It was great fun. Babies are wonderful entertainment. Young Dave calls it baby TV!

Miscellaneous stuff....

Since I haven't a new photo of Kaylene, I thought I'd post this picture of my first try at a rhubard pie. It actually turned out pretty good. The credit all goes to lots of sugar, I think. The photo below is of me in a Seattle restaurant last Thursday night. We went out to dinner and then to a club called Jazz Alley to see one of our favorite performers, Steve Tyrell. We had a super evening. Good food and wonderful entertainment, who could ask for more!!

David and his daughter!

We spent last evening with Dave, Jolene and Kaylene. This little girl has certainly captured our hearts. She eats and sleeps a lot and on occasion will open her eyes and look at us as if to say, "and who are all you people." D and J are tired, but doing very well.
I'd sort of forgotten, but fatigue is part of the package for a while.

Snoozing Kaylene

Grampa is sorta smitten with the little girl.

Dave, me and Kaylene

Kaylene Lois Kidney was born on 7/3/09

Yesterday was a very big day for us, our first grandchild was born. She weighed 7 lbs. 6 ozs. and is 19 and half inches long. She is beautiful and wonderful and all those adjectives that are associated with new babies. Both Kayleen and her mom went through the whole process, beautifully. We're very proud of both of them. Following are just a series of pictures. There will probably be more by tomorrow!

Kaylene's room.

Thanks to her Aunt Dalene, Kaylene has a beautiful room to come home to. She has been working on it for quite a long time. These are two of the walls, one, as you can see with scripture and the other her name in large letters. Great job Dalene.

Father's Day

I know I'm a bit behind, but that seems to be the way things go for me. =) We went to Dave and Jolene's for Father's Day. Dalene, dad and I, Polly and her mom Doris were all there. We had a great time and the food was really good. David has become quite the cook. Here he is with a apple pie and a peach pie. He made them from scratch, crust and all. They were really quite tasty. The photo below is of David showing Doris his Kidney museum. All sorts of things that have been saved every since he was born. Fun.
